Refund policy
What happens to your credits when a run fails, and to your money if Appleak is not for you.
Last updated
In short
- A paid run that fails, or that finds its answer already stored, costs nothing: its credits go straight back to your balance.
- Click twice, reload or retry while a run is still going, and you are charged once.
- Your first payment for a plan, or a credit pack, is refunded in full if you ask within 14 days and have used fewer than a quarter of its credits.
- Renewals are not refunded, but you can cancel any time and keep your plan until the end of the period you paid for.
- Charged twice, or charged after you cancelled? That is always refunded.
Credits for runs that fail
Tools that cost money to run use credits, and each one shows its cost before it starts. The credits are set aside when the run starts, so a limit can stop a run before it spends anything. What happens next decides whether you pay:
- The run fails. An error on our side, a source that could not be reached, a run that stopped before it had an answer: the credits go back to your balance on their own, and the message says so.
- The answer was already stored. Opening a report or teardown again, or a search Appleak already read today, is answered from what it holds, and the credits go back.
- The run finishes. The credits are spent. That includes a run that found little: an honest “nothing here” is an answer.
Credits that come back go into the period they were taken from, including credits from a pack or a coupon. You can see your balance and what each run used on your account page.
Clicking twice, reloading, retrying
- The same run sent again while the first is still going (a double click, a reload, a retry after a slow answer) is charged once.
- A category report that stopped part way, because you closed the page or the connection dropped, picks up where it stopped if you start it again within 6 hours, and is not charged again.
- If you leave a run while it is going, it was still run for you, so its credits are kept.
- Running the same thing again after it has finished (Run again, Regenerate, Write it again) is a new run and is charged as one.
Money back on your first payment
If Appleak is not for you, ask within 14 days of your first payment for a plan, monthly or yearly, and we refund it in full, as long as you have used fewer than a quarter of the credits it has given you so far. The same goes for a credit pack, counted against the pack’s own credits.
| Plan | Credits a month | Refundable while you have used fewer than |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | 750 | 188 |
| Starter | 2,000 | 500 |
| Pro | 4,500 | 1,125 |
| Pack | Price | Refundable while you have used fewer than |
|---|---|---|
| 500 credits | $5 | 125 |
| 1,500 credits | $12 | 375 |
| 3,000 credits | $20 | 750 |
A refunded plan ends, and the account goes back to the Free plan. A refunded pack’s credits are taken off the balance.
Renewals and cancelling
- Plans renew each period until you cancel. Renewals, monthly or yearly, are not refunded.
- Cancel any time from your account page. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep the plan, and its credits, until the end of the period you paid for.
- Credits you have not used do not turn into money, before or after cancelling.
Billing mistakes
If you were charged twice for the same thing, charged after you cancelled, or charged the wrong amount, write to us and we refund the mistake in full, whenever it happened.
How to ask
- Write to [email protected] from the email address you sign in with, so your account can be found. Say what you bought and when; the receipt’s order number helps.
- For credits you think a run took wrongly, say what you ran and roughly when. We check the run and put the credits back.
- Payments are taken by Polar (polar.sh), our merchant of record, so a refund goes back the way you paid, through Polar. How soon it shows depends on your bank.
Your rights
Nothing here takes away refund rights your local law gives you. Where this policy and that law differ, you get whichever is better for you. This policy is part of the terms of service.
